Study Programs - Department of Engineering Physics

Mission of the Department of Physical Engineering

DIF is one of the basic units of FIMIF, UPT, and offers study programs organized in three consecutive study cycles:

CycleProgram
First cycle (180 ECTS)Bachelor in
Engineering Physics
Second cycle (120 ECTS)Master of Science in Engineering Physics, Medical Physics Profile
Master of Science in Engineering Physics, Engineering Physics Profile
Third cycleDoctorate in Engineering Physics

The Department of Physical Engineering focuses on the application of physical principles in engineering and technology. It aims to preserve and consolidate national academic and cultural values. Its activity is structured in such a way as to prepare qualified individuals who, by contributing in the field of teaching or in other fields, influence the economic development of the entire society. The department adheres to a well-defined strategy of teaching and scientific research. This is achieved by making all the human resources of the department available. The academic staff, in accordance with their fields of scientific research, develops a successful activity in accordance with the development directions of the institution itself.

Career opportunities

Students who complete their studies at DIF are employed in many fields of the economy such as:

  • Engineers in materials control and testing laboratories;
  • Medical Physicist at hospital centers
  • Engineers in the application and use of renewable resources
  • Researchers in scientific laboratories
  • New technology consultants
  • Consultants for the implementation of various engineering projects
  • Consultants for maintenance and assisted control of engineering systems
  • Consultants in optical radiation measurement technology
  • Acoustic emission consultants

Research profiles in the main areas of DIF in which in-depth research work and the provision of third-cycle studies are oriented are:

  • “Materials Science”
