DEPARTMENT OF PHYSICAL ENGINEERING

The Department of Physical Engineering (DIF), as a basic unit of the Faculty of Mathematical Engineering and Physical Engineering (FIMIF), UPT, aims to contribute to the expansion of UPT's fields of expertise. The Department aims to improve, consolidate academic training and solve important research and scientific problems at the national and regional levels in its specific research areas.

Mission of the Department of Physical Engineering

The mission of the Department of Physical Engineering is:

  1. To transmit, develop and consolidate knowledge through teaching, scientific research and services, as well as to train senior specialists in the field of Applied Physics, capable of integrating into the labor market (internal and external);
  2. To create an environment conducive to freedom of thought and scientific research.

DIF focuses on the application of physical principles in engineering and technology. It aims to preserve and consolidate national academic and cultural values. Its activity is structured in such a way as to prepare qualified individuals who, by contributing in the field of teaching or in other fields, affect the economic development of the entire society. The department adheres to a well-defined strategy of teaching and scientific research. This is achieved by making all the human resources of the department available. The academic staff, in accordance with their fields of scientific research, develops a successful activity in accordance with the development directions of the institution itself. The main research profiles of DIF in which the in-depth research work and the provision of third-cycle studies are oriented are: Materials Science, Energy and Environment, and Applied Optics.

This department covers all physics disciplines that are developed in all three cycles in all study programs of the Polytechnic University of Tirana.
