History of the Foreign Language Center

The Foreign Languages ​​Center, as one of the basic units of FIMIF, at the Polytechnic University of Tirana, in implementing policies for achieving standards and ensuring the quality of UPT diplomas at the Bachelor and Master levels in Higher Education, aims to provide quality education in the field of foreign languages, based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages ​​program according to the Council of Europe, as well as the drafting of basic language curricula for the languages ​​and levels defined in 2001, contributing to the development of students' linguistic and communicative skills and abilities to integrate into an international academic and professional environment for a successful career.

The Foreign Languages ​​Center, in line with contemporary European developments, as well as the objectives of Albanian Higher Education, the functional and immediate demands and needs of students for higher levels in foreign languages, has tried to respond to these developments, and to the concrete and specific demands for foreign language levels, in the first, second and third cycles of undergraduate and postgraduate study.

It is also intended to standardize teaching programs in various Engineering Faculties and Branches in order to optimize credits, extend the program's time to achieve the necessary objectives in the field of applied language. Priority is given to Communicative, interactive and efficient methods, but also to a computerized laboratory base, the creation of a sitography, the methodology of searching and browsing terminological dictionaries, etc. In order to provide professional, multilingual education to students, stimulating their interest in the subject of Foreign Language, providing knowledge and skills that help them communicate successfully in a wide range of fields to create opportunities for academic exchanges and employment in the market and at the international level. In addition, QGJH contributes to strengthening the university's international relations through teaching and cognitive and cultural activities.

  • Standards, development and the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages

The main objectives of the Foreign Language Center are:

Improving students' language skills: Offering a complete curriculum on the development of oral and written communication skills in foreign languages ​​(English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, etc.), with a focus on the use of these languages ​​for academic and professional purposes.

Preparing for the international job market: Providing students with language and communication skills and abilities to be prepared to work in multinational environments, as well as to engage and be involved in international collaborations and projects.

Developing an intercultural environment: Encouraging knowledge of different cultures along with the development of intercultural communication skills, which remains essential and functional to operate successfully in an increasingly globally interconnected world.

The Foreign Language Center covers all Foreign Language disciplines (English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, etc.) that are developed in all study programs of the Polytechnic University of Tirana.
